Nine experts on new home marketing, sales and production have been selected to serve on the TecHome Builder Advisory Council. These industry leaders have already contributed valuable perspectives on current trends, opportunities and challenges that the Summit will address.

The council will also contribute to the TecHome Builder editorial efforts, as the brand tackles its mission of helping builders understand how to market, merchandise and sell home technology.

Jacob Atalla
Senior Director of Sustainability, KB Home

Jacob Atalla is the senior director of sustainability at KB Home. He leads the way in realizing KB’s sustainability goals of making every home it builds more environmentally friendly, and all aspects of its construction and business operations increasingly sustainable. Educated as an architect, Jacob has over 25 years of technology and green building experience, which form the foundation of his creative solutions for building energy- and water-efficient homes. Jacob serves on the board of directors of Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), and Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA), and he also serves on the technical committee for Leading Builders of America, and chairs the Urban Land Institute’s Orange County/Inland Empire Sustainable Communities Initiative Council.


Michael Bartleman
VP of Purchasing, Beazer Homes

Michael has more than 20 years of extensive experience at all levels of the top 10 public homebuilders in the purchasing, supply chain and operational disciplines. This industry veteran currently serves as the Vice President of Purchasing for Beazer Homes and has held previous positions at the local, regional and national level with Pulte Homes. He has also served as a consultant for Dallas-based Builder Consultants, Inc. Michael has spoken at a number of homebuilder conferences in the last several years and has been recognized as one of Home Builder Executive’s top 200 Purchasing Executives in the Nation for six consecutive years.


Lisa Kalmbach
Partner, New Montgomery Partners

Lisa Kalmbach is a managing partner of New Montgomery Partners, LLC, a real estate investment, development, and marketing company based in San Francisco. She has experience in a range of strategic, operating, and marketing positions in the real estate industry. Lisa has a background in technology and currently sits on the board of ROI Genius, a technology company that comprehensively targets, measures, engages, and simplifies the marketing process to maximize sales and profits for developers and home builders. Previously, Lisa served in increasing roles of responsibility for KB Home, and she has also served as the CEO of, the leading online source of architectural plans.


Joan Marcus-Colvin
Senior VP of Sales, Marketing and Design,
The New Home Company
Joan currently serves as the senior vice president of sales, marketing and design for The New Home Company. She directs the company’s marketing efforts, sales management and design studio operations and is responsible for brand management throughout the organization. In her 20 plus years in the homebuilding industry, Joan has served other top builders including Brookfield Homes and Taylor Woodrow Homes. Joan currently serves on the executive committee of the BIA/OC Board of Directors, the Greater Sales and Marketing Council Board of Directors, California Homebuilding Foundation Board of Directors, and is the recipient of the 2012 B.J. Stewart Women’s Achievement Award.


Mike Moore
Motivational Speaker / Leadership and Peak Performance Coach, Moore Leadership and Peak Performance
Mike Moore is a motivational speaker, leadership and peak performance coach. He combines his expertise in retailing, interior design, vendor and new home sales to address all aspects of the home buying experience. He is highly rated by Klout as a social media influencer in coaching, speaking, personal development, business and sales, and his profile is in the top 1% of viewed profiles on LinkedIn. Mike’s keynotes, seminars, courses and coaching sessions address the leadership, people skills, technology and sales environments needed to connect, communicate and serve today’s homebuyers. Mike’s results include improved employee and vendor performance, increased sales and profitability, in addition to higher customer satisfaction.


Melissa Morman
Senior VP of Client Experience, Builder Homesites, Inc./Envision
Melissa Morman has been part of BHI since its formation and has held several roles through the years. Melissa is currently the vice president of client experience, which includes B2B marketing, sales, and service. Prior to BHI, she was at ClientLogic, a leading provider of integrated infrastructure and customer relationship management solutions. Melissa is chairman of the board for Vallecitos Mountain Ranch, a wilderness retreat center specializing in transformational experiences. She is also a member of Impact Austin, a leading Austin non-profit who awards multiple $100k annual grants to worthy non-profits who have the potential to impact Austin positively via Culture, Education, Environment, Family, and Health and Wellness.


Eric Simon
Director of Enterprise IT for Networkfleet/Verizon Telematics
Eric Simon offers a rare depth and breadth of experience having built a track record in growing profits, increasing efficiency, lowering costs, and energizing the customer experience within global operations. He has achieved this by driving the technology vision, innovating value-added technical solutions, establishing efficient operations infrastructure, building and empowering world-class teams, and managing enterprise-scale business process reengineering initiatives. In his previous role as Vice President of Information Technology for Brookfield Homes, an international $1.5 billion residential developer/homebuilder, Mr. Simon transformed the technology and operations infrastructure. Most notably, he launched new revenue streams through the convergence of technology and residential development, generating in excess of $1 million in new revenues, built an enterprise infrastructure that supported 400% business growth and developed an agile web-driven software solution that cut administrative errors 64%. He combines this track record of bottom-line achievements with certifications, advanced training, and hands-on experience.


Amy Westwood
Director of Technology and Principal Technology Advisor, Celebration Associates

Amy Westwood is responsible for the planning, implementation and oversight of technology components for Celebration Associates’ community development initiatives. Celebration Associates is a nationally recognized developer and operator of award-winning, master-planned, mixed-use communities and villages. Previously, Amy spent 16 years with The Walt Disney Company, where her responsibilities included the development and coordination of technology alliances, the integration of technology components within the residential, commercial, education and health aspects of Celebration, and management of cable television activities including local, state and national regulatory and franchise issues. While at Disney, Amy led the technology efforts in Celebration, hailed as the “Most Advanced Community in the Country” by The Guinness Book of World Records, 2000.
