Emerson, WeatherBug Create Home Automation Partnership

Building off the current smart home model, WeatherBug and Emerson are teaming up to leverage weather data and the Internet of Things to anticipate your clients’ energy needs.

Homes in Texas, using the Sensi Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat from Emerson can now take advantage of WeatherBug Home – a software upgrade that optimizes connected thermostats based on weather conditions.

According to Market Watch, changing weather influences about half of the home’s energy use.

WeatherBug promises to combine real-time, hyper local weather data with the home’s energy usage information to create a thermodynamic profile of each home and optimize thermostat settings. The savings could amount to about $75 a year. The other benefit is it helps utilities boost efficiency and keep the power on during peak demand times.
