As his former team wraps its 2016 season with an NFC championship loss against the Atlanta Falcons, Nick Collins focuses on his new life as a personal trainer from his sophisticated smart home.
Nick Collins spent seven seasons as a safety for the Green Bay Packers before a neck injury forced him to retire at the age of 28. After moving back to his home state of Florida, Nick and his wife Andrea started exploring how to blend a new home with home automation.
While constructing their new 10,000-square-foot home, the Collins family knew they wanted one thing – complete home automation. Nick and Andrea wanted to control their home’s lighting, security, climate and entertainment systems with the touch of a button from anywhere in their home.
So, Integrator Mike Barry of Millennium Systems Design installed a complete ELAN Entertainment and Control System designed to allow the family to have total control in the simplest way possible.
“This system is basic, but sophisticated; we really like that,” says Nick Collins. “We use it every single day.”

Nick and Andrea have five children and wanted to make sure they had the ability to speak with them face-to-face from anywhere in the home.
The system’s Intercom feature provides them with a useful tool for whole-house communication.
“I can call the kids from the living room using the ELAN touch panel,” Andrea says. “And it’s so much easier than yelling!”
