LUX Builders Give the Doghouse a New Spin

Luxury builders are going after the pet-loving, jet-setting crowd by offering lavish amenities to their four-legged friends.

We’re talking about rooftop dog parks, doggy salons and pet-friendly club rooms. The Wall Street Journal spotlights luxury highrise condos in four cities where pet services are part of the package.

It’s a trend that appeals to city-loving Millennials, as they tend to treat their pets like children and spend money on their furry kids.

  1. The Austonian in Austin, Texas offers a 600 square foot outdoor dog park on the 10th floor and a self-serve grooming room with bathtubs and table.
  2. MiMa in Manhattan is home to Dog City, a members-only club that caters to the building’s doggy residents and their people.
  3. City Market at O in Washington, D.C. offers “yappy hour” mixers for people and pets.
  4. Finally, when it opens next year, the Ritz Carlton Residences in Miami Beach will feature a leash-free dog park and a pet spa that provides grooming and dental care.

Suddenly the doghouse doesn’t sound so bad.
