Outlook: Increased Adoption and Awareness
Due to a robust energy market of nuclear and traditional power sources, Florida’s government has largely avoided enacting a comprehensive solar policy, but that might not be as bad as it seems.
“We would love to have the policies and solar power leadership. However, if Florida’s leaders can just leave net-metering alone and stay out of the way, we don’t need them,” says McIntyre.
The lack of a statewide solar policy has prompted multiple Florida cities to introduce financial incentives and grant programs for high-performance projects and homes that use rooftop solar. These cities, however, are few and far between—click here for a full list of participating cities.
