AE Ventures announced its plans today to re-launch TecHome Builder. Founded in 2001, TecHome Builder built a following of more than 50,000 readers, 20,000 online visitors and newsletter subscribers, and hundreds of advertisers and sponsors.
Expect TecHome Builder’s re-emergence this fall in the form of a weekly newsletter, an information-rich website and a new, hosted buyer-style event, scheduled for March 4-6, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency in Austin, TX.
These e-media outlets along with the live event will provide the information and contacts needed to help builders market, merchandise and sell home technology efficiently and profitably.
Importantly, the scope of technology products and services covered will reach far beyond home electronics to tech categories, like: alternative energy systems, energy management, advanced electrical products, lighting, connected and advanced appliances, home health tech, advanced HVAC and indoor air quality products.
These products share a few key common attributes:
• They are increasingly in demand from today’s homebuyers.
• These features can swing the decision toward purchasing a new home versus an existing home due to the substantial cost differential for retrofit installation.
• They are more complicated to market, merchandise and sell than fit-and-finish type features.
• The standards for the construction process and designing and incorporating these products into homes are less well known.
For these reasons and more, it’s important that builders have an authoritative, up-to-date, focused information resource on home technology. TecHome Builder will be that resource.
I have always viewed a new home as the ultimate retail item yet somehow we haven’t figured out how to bring our homes to market with leading-edge technologies included,” says Joan Marcus-Colvin, senior vice president of sales, marketing and design, The New Home Company.
“From sustainable technologies to window shades, we owe it to our consumers to deliver homes that are as up to date as our cell phones and cars.”
“It’s up to us builders to lead with technology and TecHome Builder will give us the education, application strategies and inspiration.”
In 2010, AE Ventures, whose owner and president, John Galante, was the founding editor/publisher of TecHome Builder, acquired the brand and all related assets from EH Publishing.
“We’ve been waiting for the right moment in the market and, with housing now on a sustained upward track, we are excited to be re-launching TecHome Builder in up-to-date form factors that will delight sponsors, viewers and guests,” says Galante.
“The centerpiece of our re-launch is the 2014 TecHome Builder Summit that will host senior executives from high-volume homebuilding companies for peer networking, best practice-oriented general session content and quality interactions with vendor sponsors,” he continues. “Travel and accommodation costs for VIP guests are covered by the event in recognition of their commitment to attend sessions and vendor meetings. Other qualified homebuilders will be able to attend on a paid basis.”
